As a holistic practitioner, people often assume that I’m anti-medication...⁠

...this could be farther from the truth, because during my health journey, at times, medication has been pivotal to my healing.🙅🏻‍♀️⁠

However, I learned this lesson the hard way.⁠
.⁠
When my son was 5 and trying to survive in kindergarten, I was having a really hard time. My postpartum anxiety was triggered and went through the roof.⁠
.⁠
I had, what I like to call, a nervous breakdown.⁠
.⁠
📌This went on for months.⁠
.⁠
Just like with my #rheumatoidarthritis -- I resisted medication because I felt like I would be a failure to not heal myself with natural approaches.🚨⁠
.⁠
I literally spent my days laying in bed, trying to meditate, and the second I stopped, I would start crying again.⁠
.⁠
👉🏾My mother-in-law, who is very loving and a psychotherapist, was very worried about me and begged me to get on medication.⁠
.⁠
I finally took her advice, and went on medication which was a huge part of stabilizing my nervous system so that the natural healing modalities could work their magic.✨⁠
.⁠
This experience was humbling to see that Western Medicine does have its place, even in natural health.⁠
.⁠
So, if you come to me on medications, it’s okay. This is a judgement free zone, as I know they can be absolutely essential to the healing process.⁠

Do you feel out of control when it comes to eating sugar?

Sugar does change your brain chemistry and can drive compulsive behavior.
.
Here are my top 3 tips to help keep the “sugar dragon” at bay.🐉🍰🍮🍡🍭
.
1️⃣ Get enough sleep every night
Most people need eight hours of sleep per night, if not more. Not getting enough sleep can increase your sugar cravings!
.
It affects hormones that control your appetite (leptin and ghrelin), and it can also raise the stress hormone cortisol. This combination makes you more susceptible to urges and cravings. If you are physically tired during the day, you may crave sugar as a pick-me-up.
.
When do you have your strongest sugar cravings?
.
Many people have them towards the end of the day. Research shows that sugar cravings are tied to your circadian rhythm and sleep patterns. If you don’t sleep on a regular schedule, or if you’re not getting enough quality sleep, your sugar cravings can intensify.
.

2️⃣ Keep emergency food
Often sugar cravings occur because you are hungry or thirsty! Make sure you have access to emergency food or snacks if you go for long stretches between meals. Ideally snacks should contain protein and fat, and not carbohydrates alone.
.

3️⃣ Use herbs and supplements
Sometimes while your body is healing, I like to make things as easy as possible. One of my favorite supplements for this is Endotrim. Endotrim helps to balance blood sugar and insulin, improves mood with serotonin and dopamine precursors, and regulates cortisol. It’s such an impressive combo for mood, blood sugar balance, insulin resistance, weight loss, leptin and ghrelin regulation, and stress that it’s one of my top tools in my tool box for helping women overcome the sugar dragon ;)
