Women, are you tired of struggling with your hormones, periods, or fertility?
Symptoms like mood swings, fatigue, irregular cycles, period pain, wicked PMS, and not getting pregnant for no good reason are often shrugged off as "female problems" you just have to live with. I am here to tell you this is simply not true. These are signs that something isn’t right. Your body is giving you signals that something is out of balance. With a functional medicine approach, I help women of all ages solve these troubling unexplained symptoms, so you can feel your best!
How? By investigating and nailing down the underlying root causes of your symptoms, and using natural medicine to resolve them

This is where functional medicine comes in
In functional medicine, we don’t simply mask symptoms with medications or even supplements. Instead, we investigate what went wrong and how to fix it. We delve deeply into how to fix broken hormones, moods, metabolism, energy, and periods.
Like a puzzle, symptoms that seem unrelated and random are often connected by the same body system gone awry. For example, we may find that by fixing a gut bacteria imbalance, your mysterious bloating and constipation go away. Or improving your detoxification pathways clears up your skin, stops your PMS, and eliminates your headaches. Or addressing your adrenals nixes those perimenopausal hot flashes.
Functional medicine practitioners recognize that you are not made up of separate parts (and need to see a specialist for each part). Instead, you are a complex and dynamic being with interconnected systems.
How do you start functional medicine care with me?
We start with a discovery intake. This is so we can determine if my work is a fit for you before we invest in one another. I don't take new patients unless I am pretty darn sure I can help you. I also need you to do your part. This is an intake form you complete that answers my questions and gives you an opportunity to ask yours. I review this form and reply to your questions about working with me (no medical advice). If we decide to proceed, we schedule a 1-hour new patient appointment for you. There are short videos in the discovery intake that allow you to get to know me.
What happens at appointments?
We talk face to face (in-person or video) about your health history, symptoms, and goals. We review lab data, including blood work and functional labs (most common are the DUTCH test and the GI MAP). We review data you are tracking such as basal body temperature or heart rate variability. We discuss your progress, make changes to your treatment plan, and address new things that come up. Each visit includes a written summary and update of your plan.
What is in a treatment plan?
My plans consist of customized nutrition, herbs, and supplements. I do not prescribe pharmaceutical or prescription medicine. I use small doses of bio-identical hormones as support but not as replacement. For women who are cycling, I do design and prescribe herbal elixirs timed to different phases in your cycle. Plans also include your action steps to complete labs, track data, and make lifestyle changes that contribute to good sleep, low stress, healthy movement, and emotional wellbeing. Treatment plans are time-limited, and need monitoring and updating.
How many appointments do you need?
This is variable according to the individual. If your needs are very simple (one issue, hasn't been going on very long) plan on 2-3 appointments. If your needs are complex, such as several systems out of balance over a very long time, plan on 3 months to a year, sometimes longer. Functional medicine is a process, similar to when you go to therapy for mental health. It's not usually a "one and done" appointment although there are some exceptions. Peeling the layers back and healing your root imbalances is a process.
Follow-up appointments (1 hour or 30 minutes) are usually once a month until you've reached your goals. This tends to be the right amount of time to assess your progress and to change your treatment plan as you change. In between monthly appointments, we message on my private patient portal, and you get a steep discount on anything from my shop – including supplements and labs.
