We really have to dig into inflammation as a serious root cause of weight-loss resistance! Sometimes people know they are inflamed because they have signs of it, they have:
- Aches and pains
- G.I. bacteria overgrowth
- Frequent urinary tract infections
There so many signs!
Inflammation can also be more of an invisible situation where:
- You don’t know that you’re inflamed
- You can’t sense it or feel it
- Yet your body has it!
- We can even see that on labs – with markers such as CRP, hsCRP, Reverse T3, and Ferritin.
This is typically caused by physiological mechanisms that you do not feel, like an imbalance in your gut microbes with an overgrowth of yeast or “bad” bacteria. Or, chronic stress, surgery recovery, sleep apnea, or hormone imbalance.
The bottom line is if you’re inflamed it’s really hard to lose weight! Your body does not like to let go of weight if you’re inflamed. So, inflammation will block weight loss. There are many mechanisms as to how this happens and it’s something that is really important to dig into when there is weight-loss resistance.

Troubleshooting the root causes of your inflammation is always the place to start. As it turns out, all of the root causes of weight loss resistance can cause inflammation, so keep reading or watching. Or, jump to my post Moving Out of Inflammation.
It does not pay to take medications or supplements that reduce inflammation if you don’t identify and remove the triggers.
